Anyone on Xtra have a premium rapidshare account?

I'm on Orcon and the downloads speeds have dropped from 1.2 MB per sec to around 200k per sec in the last two days.

Just wondering if it's rapidshare or the ISP....

Hi

I've used Rapidshare.com for a few years now, Its the greatest.  I usually download 8 files at a time with FlashGet, and usually average about 80-90 per file.  When Im downloading a single file, it all depends on what time of the day/night.  I can get the max out of my connection, over 250 sometimes (rural).

When Xtra did that 'unlimited broadband' plan back in what, 2005-6 (?) we signed up, but as you might have heard, the speed dropped heaps, we first thought it was Xtra blocking the site (we were downloading 24/7) but it turned out it was Xtras bad planning. So we bailed on that and went back to a 10g plan (now 20g).

I have a premium account and now that im adsl2+ i can get a constant 1300kB/s (circa 13Mb/s) average speed.

Your issue could be either RS or the ISP.

RS, depending on the server youre downloading from.. could be many users downloading the same links, therefore reducing the speed.

ISP, they may have international bandwidth users..

I use Flashget and set all my downloads between 2am and 6am when there's minimal kiwi users using international bandwidth the better.

Also use flashget.

Seems it's the ISP, a few others on there complaining, seems to be back to normal now, i think they tried some traffic shaping for a few days.
