Hi All,

Anyone else getting feedback from Spark network users about poor/degraded mobile coverage in Southland?

We have been receiving a steady stream of complaints from 20+ mobile users in the region over the last 2-3 months. This is across device types and locations.

Have raised an issue with our account management team.

Regards

I generally find Spark to be quite poor. By a big margin the worst performing network in Auckland in my personal experience but even in rural area like Northland, Far North and Great Barrier island they can be surprisely patchy compared to One/2degrees. I tried them for three months last year and found so many gaps in coverage and also many areas where they seem to have OK coverage but seeimly not enough capacity. After three months I went back to 2degrees and all my issues disappeared. I know they are struggling with their 5G rollout. Currenly they're ripping out lots of recently installed 4G/5G equipment and replacing with even newer 4G/5G gear from another vendor. Seems that they backed the wrong vendor and are having to undo about 5 years worth of 5G rollout. So may be more fosued on that unfourtently and possibly not really focused on BAU stability.

May need to tell your account manager that your org will need to investigate alternatives if not resolved by $your_reasonable_timeframe and actually be prepared to walk if not resolved. Spark really does need to up their game -- especially in light of their silly TV advert that makes no sense given the poor quality of their network.

My SparkNZ work handset Samsung S23+ loves connecting to the 3G network even when close to a 5G site (Northland)
