I'm needing a mobile data connection and my retailer says that signing up to Telecom now will only get you equipment for 2G; there's nothing now that will do both.

However, I have a Blackberry on a Telecom account and notice that Mobishark offer Blackberry software that enables it to act as a modem when the Blackberry is connected via USB cable to a PC. Has anyone tried this with Telecom?

I don't really understand the comment.

As for the Bkackberry solution it probably will work but you won't be able to afford to use mobile data with the rates you pay for Blackberry data.

Right now if you're wanting cost effective mobile data Vodafone is the only option. THis doesn't mean they are better, just that they offer significantly cheaper rates.

Doesn’t seem all that much different to me.  About 10% more for Telecom.

Voda:

Broadband starter 200

200MB of data,  Overage 50c per MB,  for $29.95a month, 24 month term

Double your data for $10

Telecom equivalent is:

Mobile BB 200 Plus

200MB of Data, Overage 57c per MB, for $33.69, 24 month plan

Double your data for $11.75

Voda

1GB data, overage as above, $49.95, 24 month term

Double your data for $10

Telecom equivalent,

1GB data, overage as above, $56.19, 24 month term

Double your data for $11.75

Weirdly though,  if you look at the Voda prices on the previous post for Blackberry data,  it is way more than telecom’s charges.
