Try changing your tracker. Some trackers actively refuse connections for various reasons, such as maintenance, or you may need to login to your account.

If you don't have alternate trackers, try downloading some other torrent, preferably that of a FOSS like the new Ubuntu.

Another ISP (orcon? Cant remember) was blocking utorrent based on the user agent apparently. Opening the exe in a hex editor and replacing all instances of the user agent with something of the same character length fixed it, or so i heard.

What port do you have open?

I am on xtra and have no problems using utorrent, or my other torrent program.

Private trackers commonly block uTorrent because of a few of its features - I cant remember which exactly but I think the reasoning is that it will try to bypass the tracker and use DHT or lan sharing which means the tracker doesnt get accurate reports on your downloading and uploading ratios.

Vuse on the other hand just does what the tracker demmands and wont bypass its restriction policys.

Certain versions of Torrent clients get blocked by trackers.
I'll se eif I can get a list from one Ive seen....

Here we go :

Deluge 0.5.9.3 Click here to download Deluge 0.5.9.3

Not recommended
UTorrent 1.7.7 - Several other trackers have banned this client for reporting bad data to the tracker.
please avoid this version - it may lead to problems for you if we have to ban it.

Beta versions may appear on this list as tested, but they are not recommended,
if you use a beta version and your stats are not updated properly then dont complain to us.
Stick with the tried and trusted releases and you should not have any problems

========================

Make sure youre not using one of those - obviously this was from one tracker but youd probably find others have a similar list.

A friend of mine had the same problem, and yes it looked like Xtra were blocking him, the download would start then just drop off. He googled it and found a solution, something to do with changing a few settings in the program to force the connection.

Give that a go.
