I know people probably ask this so many times
but if this does happen does anyone know anything about what kind of prices they will be?

I find Vodafones plans for the ipod extremely expensive but maybe thats me.
then again most teenagers use telecom these days anyway.

cheers!

Apple has a very firm grip on the price of their products ... it most likely will be the same price on telecom as vodafone to buy the phone out right only thing that may be different is discounts for signing fixed term.

And as for "then again most teenagers use telecom these days anyway" that is a big claim.

fyi - most teenagers are on vodafone in most city areas - easily say 90%, i find that teens on telecom are found in the towns between cities.

I am now 21 and have been living in Christchurch my whole life, and I can fairly say that for the last atleast 5 years 90% of the people I know around my age are on Telecom. Teenagers on vodafone when I was at school were very rare.

Anyway, cant wait for the iPhone. Sucks having to wait, Im tempted to go to vodafone and get a 3G iPhone for launch, but I know thats pointless if Telecom are likely to release the new iPhone (if there is one).

May pay to settle that sort of tone down if you wish to fit into this community and gain any level of respect.

I know people probably ask this so many times

Have you searched?

but if this does happen does anyone know anything about what kind of prices they will be?

How could they possibly? Apple and Telecom do not have an iPhone deal, and handset pricing would be one of the last things to get sorted.

I find Vodafones plans for the ipod extremely expensive but maybe thats me.

iPods don't have plans. But the plans for the iPhones appeal to many, while for others, its too expensive. Competition in the iPhone segment could bring those prices down a little.

then again most teenagers use telecom these days anyway.

I was at the Telecom event last week when Alan Gourdie said that Telecom is in conversations with Apple. That's all he said, and that's all he was going to say.

Anything else is just rumours.

On the usage discussion, I could swear I read an article a few months ago that said that Vodafone was more popular in North Island towns/cities (article cited Auckland) for teenagers, while Telecom was more popular in the South Island (ChCh and Dunedin both cited) for teenagers. For the life of me I can't find the article, but I know there was one a few months ago (Stuffs search is awful). Only being a few years out of that demographic myself I can say I agree. As part of my work I also deal with teenagers a lot and its very rare for me to come across one with Vodafone in CHCH.

Article somewhere last week (may have been NBR) said 90%+ of university students in Auckland were on Voda, while 85%-90% of students in Dunedin were on Telecom.

Voda has Auckland, without a doubt, whereas Telecom seems to have the rest of the country.

in a ?rea where there are large percentage of foreign people, I think most of them use Vodafone. In places like Auckland, yes, 40 % of the population comes from abroad, Voda rules. I have seen many English people and Asian use Vodafone, I told them I use telecom, they opened their eyes wide open. But most native kiwis in south island and businessmen here use telecom. I haven't seen a businessman here using a Voda handset. Maybe because of the wider coverage of telecom?

i heard Telecom is getting a Apple iPod with some type of cellular radio, this is probably a photo leaked from Apple HQ!

It's pretty obvious that none of the cool kids own a Vodafone, going by your descriptions that all the people you knew have a Telecom.
Apple iPod with Cellular Radio

Given the detail of most Apple NDA's I suspect that is all he is able to say :)

Very similar the the drips that came out from Vfone when they were in discussion before the 3G iPhone launch in NZ
