I had a chance this morning to go have a look at the Telecom Store in Centreplace this morning in Hamilton, can say it was pretty much breathing room only in there, staff being run off their feet and a fair few handsets leaving the shop. The in-store advertising they have put post-paid on one side and pre-paid on the other, both doing direct comparrisons to Vodafone's Supa-Prepay pricing and explaining how per second charging works out cheaper. They had live demo handsets to play with also which was good, very nice presentation.

Went for a walk to Leading Edge on London st and it was pretty much the same again, breathing room only but a very similar lay-out.

I'm quietly wondering if some people are jumping the gun here however, given this is a long weekend the likes of Harvey norman, Bond + Bond, etc usually do Sales which includes mobile phone handsets, and I know they will sell XT handsets as well as Vodafone.

I am not going anywhere for the time being, and the next 12 months will be great where it comes to handsets, there's the Pre, the new 3G Blackberry, the Androids are all coming out in droves. So will be sitting on the fence just a little while longer.

I picked up a cheep R6 phone and a pre pay sim to test out the telecom network for coverage etc. We are all on vodafone account at our place and even tho we have the 3G 900 phones (5800,6121c) we have no 3G at all(2G reception is OK tho).

Lambton quay was really busy. I got there at 6:30am and was 26th in line. At 7:30 there were over 100 people lined up. they gave out over 90 raffle prizes. It was really good.
all the mc'ing was done through the Edge radio station. The line at checkout was huge
