after reading the forum threads regarding reconnecting on a term contract for 24 months under the old cdma system i rang customer services on wednesday asking if it was true that i would get a $299 voucher toward a new mobile device on the xt network? i was told yep that is the case..however she (customer services) said i would be better off waiting till friday as the dealers would have better if not equivilant deals or promotions to entice people onto the new network..she admitted she did not know what the promos were however she said it would certainly be worth my while. she said she would ring me fri afternoon/evening...(its just after 6 pm friday eveing and no call so far)

soooo... i waited..and friday afternoon ,strolled into the nearest leading edge telecom store and spotted a phone i could be interested in..i asked the lass shop assistant whats the deal re the $299 reconnect offerand do they have promo deals similar to it..she said no, those deals were only for pre xt network customers.

so i walked out, disappointed, dejected as i had been hanging out for this new network
i had 2 mobile contracts with telecom up until my pda was destroyed by a car wheel(dont ask) this was on mobile broadband  and i also had my work mobile..combined would average about $350 to 400 a month

i am now seriously looking at vodafone as the telecom range of phones and devices seems rather thin to be honest..the sony ericsson being the exceptions.

i wonder if anyone else has had similar experiences?

I'm confused, so did you commit to a resign deal (on cdma) with Telecom for the 299 voucher or were you simply told that if you signed up for the xt network you would get a 299 voucher?

I think he was told if he signed up on the new network from this current CDMA account he would get the voucher.

But reality is this deal was only offered to people to resigned BEFORE XT Network went live...

I found that out the hard way too. But then, the reality of it is, the voucher only gets you a discount equal to... the regular 24 month subsidy of a phone on an equivalently priced plan anyway. So no voucher for me, but not having to pay the ETF made it still a good deal.

Correct, it's only advantageous if you're going for a plan which offers less than a 300 subsidy, however in guyz case I think that's a real shame that such basic information was miscommunicated like that, the only thing I can think is that maybe she was assuming that you were already eligible for it and were just confirming this, however of course, one should never assume things like that. I also think its very strange how she thought the stores would have different promos, this is never the case from my experiences. Anyways, you mentioned the Sony Ericssons, they do have some good promos with the Sony Erricson c510, what kind of plans were you looking at?

There seems to be a ton of misinformation out there from Telecom, including conflicting information from different staff and just plain wrong info.

To clarify a few points, the resign was avaialbe till 5pm Thursday 28th, when taking up the voucher offer today for example, you could choose to either use the voucher discount or the promotional subsidy whichever was greater, once upgraded either way the voucher is useless ( as it is tagged to the mobile number ). If there is a genuine case when the resign did not go through prior to Thursday the stores have a point of contact within Telecom where this person would assess the information and have the power to issue a $299 voucher. Yes there was some people that didnt understand or not fully informed however in their defence the sheer volume of information being circulated was vast and varied, even right up to thursday night trying to keep everyone informed as much as possible. I suggest revisit the store, explain the issue and ask for it to be escalated ( nicely )

Yes, that is hardly surprising considering the scale of what they have had to learn and understand re. the new network, mistakes were always bound to happen, but like noody says, if you approach it politely but firmly then there are other avenues to be explored.

However, on the One Rate 180, I think there is a current business promo (you said your old phone was a work one?) where you can get the Sony Ericsson C510 for $99 on a 24 month term + 1 free my favourite for the duration of your contract, making the subsidy on the phone equal to 299 anyway, if thats your kinda phone, problem solved Laughing

i Think the sony ericsson will do as work and will either wait for the acer m900/iphone 3G+ or similar vane pda phone

Nice, I actually think I misinformed you, on the one rate 100 it is $99, on the 180 it is only $29 I believe. Good luck.
