The problem is with lots of handsets there are two varients. One that does UMTS 850/2100 and another that does 900/2100.

If you have a NZ new 6210 then it won't work - Vodafone sell the WCDMA 900/2100 models. If you have an imported model then there is a chance that the model does do both 820/2100 and 900/2100 - in Australia for example both models are available in the marketplace.

It appears their IMEI checker does seem to have some issues with some handsets, particularly those such as Nokia's that have different variants of the same model.

I don't like the advice to try a Telecom SIM. My Nokia 6121 picks up the XT network where I live in Auckland, but I'm sure it's a 2100 MHz signal and won't work where there's only 850 MHz coverage.

Should this handset checker just be checking the TAC code or the full IMEI?

We are aware of the little "glitch" at the moment where the iPhone is not recognised.

We are also aware certain variants aren't being recognised, being looked into..
