Can you please tell me how can I use that CB thinggy again for the network, I know that you enter in a code and its supposed to tell you what area your in (E.G: Tauranga, Wellington etc) and I cannot remember what the codes are.

Also what other codes are there that we can use on our XT mobiles, as well as the costs of it all?

I don't think XT has cell broadcast enabled.

Why would you want it enabled anyway? It just sucks battery and serves no purpose.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you are after. I don't know what CB is other than Citizen Band in the context of Amatuer radio. Or are you refering to CellBroadcast?

A shame, I like that feature with Vodafone, and always had it on, and I was hoping XT would have it too :(

@kickzit Telecom have chosen not to broadcast the names of their cell sites on the XT Network. Am interested to know how you found this useful..or was it just interesting.

When you're in north east valley in dunedin and your vodafone has only one bar and says 'Octagon', it lets you know that vodafone coverage sucks

Children's Band has nothing to do with Amateur Radio, other than it also involves Radio frequencies. *crosses arms* :P

I've got a vodafone mobile and cell broadcast only works in GSM mode

The info is useful to give you an idea how far your signal is coming from or if your local to the transmitter and expect coverage to be stronger

I found it more amusing than useful. It'd often tell me I was on a transmitter many kilometres away rather than the one less than 1Km that I could actually see. Such as saying I was on a SH2 cell tower while I was in Brooklyn (about 5Km away from the start of SH2), or one in Miramar. That said, that particular tower did seem to be very flaky, I gave up telling them it was flaky when I couldn't get a signal from within 200M from it and they wouldn't believe me, one day it started behaving so someone had obviously eventually worked it out :)
