A friend that works at DSE just told me that the SE W705a has been recalled due to "QC issues". Is there any truth to that?

Update: For those who want a quick summary, it's an email configuration issue and the fix is available from here.

Indeed, I thought it very unlikely since we haven't heard about it here on GZ. Frankly I trust this site better than a friend working retail!

I rang telecom yesterday about a minor issue I was having with mine. They never said anything like that so I'll assume your mate has his story wrong until proven otherwise

From working in retail, I can tell you that the number of times products get recalled for QC issues, and the public never hears about it is a lot!
The QC issue can be as small as a miss print in a manual, or something in one particular batch only.
Sometimes it will be placed on QC until a solution has been found, or they isolate the problem as being in a limited number of cases.

Telecom is making sure all the Sony Erricson handests have email polling switched off before being sold. They may be recalling the mass market ones to do that at head office. Telecom stores are doing this at the store.

Seems the default setting "out of the box" for Email sync on the Sony Ericsson devices has been set incorrectly.

A firmware update is being tested at the moment and a rollout plan is being developed. To avoid customer confusion and erronious charges these devices have been removed from sale in some resellers. Telecom stores are changing the settings manually prior to sale.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.
