I'm after a new phone, and I figure getting one compatible with XT is my best bet, since I'm currently on telecom, everything's open term and the phone will work (at least in 2G mode) on 2degrees or vodafone, should I choose to switch at any stage. The only things I really care about are
- GPS
- General usability/ergonomics, ie. good screen, and keypad for texting etc (don't need or want qwerty)
- Pocket sized (I'm not after one of those giant sized smartphones)
- I'd like to be able to use the GPS/maps without incurring massive data charges
(ie. download the maps first on my computer at home)
The W705a seems to fit most of these, although GSM arena claims it doesn't have GPS,
the telecom site says it does. Does anyone know what the GPS software's like?
Does it work 'offline'?
GSM arena comes up with a few choices. the SE G705 and the 6210 navigator look interesting.
Anyone tried either on XT? I can't find anywhere in NZ that sells either in the 850UMTS variety.
NB: this editor sucks! I have to manually word wrap?!?!?
