I'm using Telecom CDMA for my phone, and TelstraClear PDQ for Internet. My connection dropped out about 10 minutes ago, so I picked up the phone to text the person I was talking to online and let them know. The text failed to send.

I then called *333 and got a message welcoming me to NZ and directing me to call *123 if I wanted to set up roaming. I then tried to call my father and got "it can take up to 4 hours for your phone to be activated".

Obviously my Internet connection is working again now, but my phone is still asking me to call *123 or telling me that it's not activated. Is this a known issue?

Edit: I talked to a friend also on Telecom CDMA here and his phone is working fine. A week ago I signed up online for XT but have not yet received the phone, but I wonder whether my number's been moved (Telecom hasn't informed me).

The messages you are recieving when making a call on your CDMA phone indicate that your phone is either programmed (NAMed) incorrectly (unlikely), or is not connected at Telecoms end (likely, given that you asked for an upgrade).

Right, I've just emailed Telecom along with all my details etc and asked where my new phone is. It certainly would be nice if they sent status updates automatically instead of having to ask for them!

I haven't heard anything back yet. How long should an online order take? Today is the 5th working day since I placed my order.

Easier said than done when your phone doesn't work! I'll need to take a note of my order number when I get home and bring it into work tomorrow, can you think of any other details that I might need?

Telecom has replied to the email that I sent yesterday. There were "internal issues" with the order and Telecom has reconnected my CDMA phone, added $20 credit, and refunded the purchase cost of the new phone. She suggests going into a store to physically buy a new phone and I now have an account number that it can be connected to.

I'll head in on the way home from work. It looks like this story will eventually have a happy ending :)
