Hi Guys i need help!
I brought a sony ericsson C510a from vodafone which is capable of running on the XT network,Well I put a XT sim card in it and it sends messages and makes calls ok,the internet works on it but always comes up with this wired vodafone site with news etc on it when i click to go on the net.To get the internet on it to work I had to change the APN to wap.telecom.co.nz.I even went into my ringtones on my phone and clicked on download more but it still took me to the wired vodafone site that had no links to ringtones on it.My question is how do I get it to go to the Telecom homepage where you can download ringtones, wallpapers etc etc

Thanks

Not in the APN settings but in your browser as a URL. You might need to set it as your homepage.

The device is customised by Vodafone, the "ringtones" link will also be customised to the primary operators content page.

Big reason why I always get devices I can either hack all the pre-installed linkers stuff out of or at least a "vanilla" device which was sold direct and not through any operator.

Set the homepage to "http://myhomepage", "http://pdaportal.telecom.co.nz", or the full "http://mobportal.telecom.co.nz/mobile/app/menu/index/xhtml" and ensure it connects through the connection that has the APN "wap.telecom.co.nz"

I either click on the icon on the phones menu or on the icon thats on the front of the phone. Both take me to the same wired vodafone site even if i change the home page

Does "the icon" have a name? Is it called "Vodafone Live" by any chance?

Yes vodafone live on the front screen, however it does not take me to the vodafone live homepage where you can download ringtones etc,it takes me to this page:http://m.vodafone.com/op/vodafone/de/ct/

Ok i have worked out from the factory settings I have to change the APN from vodafone.co.nz to wap.telecom.co.nz for the internet to actually work on the phone,I think the problem is no matter what i set the homepage to in the browser it always comes up with that wird vodasite site,so any reasons why when i type in http://myhomepage or even www.google.com the vodafone site still comes up as my homepage?

Question: Did the XT network attempt to push some settings down to your phone when you first inserted your XT SIM card? If so did you accept or did you set everything up manually?
