Am having some issues, wonder if anyone can give me some thoughts.
Bought me a spankin' new e75 on Wednesday last week, love it.
BUT...
Have been trying to use WirelessIRC and IM+ with disappointing results >< Would use mIRGGI but it crashes on e75 (yes, have submitted bug report).
WirelessIRC is affected the worst. It will disconnect after anything from a few minutes, to an hour-ish. IM+ seems to be less susceptible, but will also disconnect in a similar fashion - probably because it isn't checking the network connection as often). When either disconnects, the entire 3G data connection is lost, therefore SIP and anything else is disconnected also. Not sure if the 3g goes down, therefore apps die, or apps die, and bring down 3g with them.
I borrowed a friend's Vodafone SIM this morning, and tested for 3 hours, and neither dropped once. Put my XT sim back in and it dropped after 6 minutes, and thats after taking 5 minutes to register to the network.
Went into a TRS store and tried a storepersons SIM, same thing. Tried a fresh e75 and only installed WirelessIRC, same thing.
The only other phones i've tried these apps on are a N95 on Voda - worked perfectly, and a Nokia 6120 on XT - worked perfectly, but only tested for around an hour.
I'm convinced that its some issue either with XT, or with the compatibility between the e75 and XT.
Other than this, it is going well except for battery life when gmail is connected, but thats an issue for another day.
It would be useful if people could suggest ways I can further test.
A recap:
- Disconnects after arbitrary time (few mins ~ an hour) on XT, even when in full 3.5G signal
- Disconnects when sitting at desk, or walking around. Also once held a connection over a ~4km car drive
- Disconnectes at my office, at the telecom store, in between, at the gym, at home, at a friend's house.
- Doesn't (appear to) disconnect when not using IM+/WirelessIRC (but only other thing running is VoIP/SIP and occaisional web browsing, and i probably wouldn't notice unless i happened to look at the screen, and it hasn't dropped in the middle of a VoIP OTA call or web page load)
- Worked flawlessly for 3 hours on Vodafone 3G
- Same thing on another sim
- Same thing on another e75
- Same thing on wap/internet/direct.telecom.co.nz APNs.
- Doesn't drop when at home using Wifi
From you good people, two things I would like:
- Suggestions of methods/apps to test further (network analysis tool? data monitor tool?)
- Info from people who have had similar experiences, or could possibly download those apps and similar apps to test, preferably on s60 v3 devices.
Thanks,
Mushi
