It seems Blackberry's aren't really available on XT, but would a parallel imported one work fine if it were 3G/850 ?

BB bold 9000 can. it has
GSM850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900  and WCDMA850 / 1900 / 2100

The BlackBerry Bold is definitely available on XT.
