Hi,

Here's an FYI for anyone having email delivery issues to domains hosted via mta.xtra.co.nz.

mta.xtra.co.nz has a small concurrent connection limit (something like 12?).

mta.xtra.co.nz rejects additional connection attempts, which causes an email to retry later, which can then compound the situation as more email attempts delivery.

Cheers,
Adrian

how many concurrent connections do you need, if you're not an ISP or large corporate? You'll find similar (and probably harsher) policies at google, hotmail etc too

I normally setup a locked down local SMTP Server which relays to mta.xtra.co.nz, I dump all my emails locally and then my local SMTP worries about concurrency issues.
