I have a Nokia E51, which was originally a Telstra NextG handset.  I have taken all the Telstra stuff off it, and put the generic Nokia software on it.

Currently i'm on Vodafone, and have had no issues... MobileTV and data seems to be fine.

BUT.  I bought an XT SIM the other day, popped it it, and saved the data settings.  When I open up the browser it goes to T World by default, as it should

I then had a trawl around on T World, just on the front page.  After finally getting it working, I logged into MyTelecom, and it's showing that i had a number of data sessions, and my balance was docked for these.

What am I doing wrong.  Please no bulls__t about non suppported handsets, as that's just a cop out and not true.  The handset isn't calling home, as there is no 'home'

their helpdesk staff stop quite quickly once I mention I didn't buy the handset off them. I was hoping that someone here might actually have the skillset to inform me what the issue is, rather than reading off a script and then fobbing me off.

I would certainly check which APN's are loaded on your device and delete any that aren't applicable to XT

These are Found under Menu> Settings> Connection> Access Points

Also check the Packet Data settings which are one menu back from where you check Access Points.

will try that, shouldn't be an issue, but worth trying. Take it I should be using 'TelecomData' to connect to T World?

I would switch to TelecomContent, this goes through the TNZ proxy to T-World, TelecomData bypasses the proxy and goes straight out on to the internet.

TelecomContent is the correct APN for accessing T-World.

If it's still charging give the helpdesk a call and explain the situation, there are lots of different technical, billing, user interactions that could be at fault and thats where the script comes in to make sure no area is missed out.

Trying the SIM in a Telecom sourced handset will help with troubleshooting and eliminate any doubts about your non Telecom sourced device.

You are not being billed incorrectly

What you have found is a bug in the online reporting of data used for MobileTV. The reporting via Tworld on your handset will be correct.

We are in the process of fixing this. This bug is only affecting the Online (Your Telecom) reporting of your usage NOT what you are being billed.

I repeat, this is a reporting error not a billing error. We have checked and double checked and customers are being billed corretly.
