ISSUES WITH SIERRA WIRELESS 885 MODEM

Has anyone has an issue with one of these, the aerial port fell out after only 2 weeks use and the retailer has refused to fix or replace it said it is not under warranty. which I think is a load or rubbish!

Check your contract:
From mine:
Sierra Wireless 885 USB
Warranty 12 months.
This was replaced with the Telecom TStick after 2 weeks (Plus refund) ~ software problem

I also purchased an extra 12 months warranty for $39.95. to cover my 24 month contract.
Vodafone's Vodem gave up after 18 months ~ live and learn :)

1. Keep your cool, be painfully polite and write everything down.
2. Get in touch with Telecom Head Office which should be enough, use the NZ Phone Book for the number.
3. If you end up taking a quick trip to the Philippines call center, ask politely for Head office personnel in NZ.
4. Using the email contact option on Telecoms site gives you a dated record if you prefer to go that way.
5. You also have the NZ Consumer act to fall back on.
All the Best.

Hold on a moment.

Can you give us any more information? Where did you buy it? Telecom, Leading Edge, ORB etc?

You should try to solve the issue with the retailer. By the sounds of it, the retailer seems to think you data card is impact damaged. Did you speak to a manager?

Do you have a photo?

I would go back to the store and remain polite, but firm, and ask to speak to the Manager.

Print out the Posts here and take them into the shop with you.
If possible take someone you trust with you for moral support, an older person could be useful.

My neighbors sierra stick fell apart in the same way but was replaced by telecom. Apparently it is a common problem according to a service tech he spoke to.

Obviously Leading Edge is being a bunch of pricks - lesson learned: not to buy there.

You should contact Telecom again and say the store is not helping.
