Hi there

I have been with Telecom for a few years now and was one of the many who joined with the $49.95 a month unlimited plan - Telecom stopped offering that to new customers and now they have decided to close the plan altogether.

I have been offered the new Big Time plan which is exactly the same as the plan I am on now apart from the extra $10 a month they are wanting to take from my wallet.

How is this fair?

Surely, I can't be the only customer this is going to affect and what does it mean that they are 'closing' it down anyway?

It appears they are simply wanting an extra 25% from me ...

Anyone else feel the same way?

Cheers
Allessandra :-)

There are already several discussion open in the Telecom forum in regards to this topic:
Go Large closing down on 30th October
GoLarge To BigTime (BigTime Info)

The general consensus is that Telecom have full rights to alter there plans at any time (with due notification as per their TOS) and that the benefits of this switch over are (in most opinions) worth the extra $10 per month:

  • Faster upload speed (as fast as your line allows instead of 128k)

  • Better traffic management

  • Better public guidelines for traffic shaping and management

While you may not see this move by Telecom as fair, it is justified. Go Large was grandfathered two years ago, its user base has dwindled during this time. It used a custom connection profile that is no longer used on any Telecom plan (other than the entry plan), so it does not fit in with Telecom's aim of having most connections running at FS/FS.

More arguments either way are included in the above links.

Thanks so much for clarifying Telecom's position - I really appreciate it and sorry for starting a new topic ... I did search but obviously didn't find it.

Cheers
