Disenchanted that is so negative and you should be ashamed!! I agree with Bunty, what an awesome opportunity. Perfect job for a geek. The problem in NZ is there are not enough engineers. Too many lawyers and BA's. Technology is where it is at!

It would likely be a cool job, yes, but working for a large corporate is no picnic either :-)

"The grass is not always greener (on the other side of the fence)" is a valid warning to anyone to be sure that something really attractive is actually as it seems (which it may well be).

I would never be ashamed of telling someone to carefully examine the steps they take to secure their future and enjoy their lifestyle... would you?

Disenchanted - you always have so much to say about the quality of Telecoms handsets. Surely this would be an ideal opportunity for you to put up and use your knowledge and experience for the good of all of us.

I already do, in different way.

I think Telecom have got a great proposition for customers, and I know lots of employees of Telecom, and 99.999% are happy in their role (probably a higher rate than other companies I know of).

But corporate life just isnt for me at the moment. :-)

Although I did apply for a role about 18 months ago with Telecom.
It was "Mobile Specialist / Technology Manager" and dealing exclusivly with M.E. customers.

The guy who got it was vastly more qualified than I am.

I would accept this role in a blink, Not only would I work In the best role ever, I would be giving something back to the community in the way of phones that WORK in a similar way.. It's the perfect job, Telecom are an excellent employer, can't say the same for the others.
