Telecom has officially release "Mobile Broadband 50"

$35+gst monthly
50MB monthly (up/down, 10kb rounding per session etc)

95c + gst per MB excess use charge.

Bridges a fine gap between Flexi $10 and MBB100 $53.

It offers twice the megabytes for $35 than flexi does (Flexi : $10 + 25MB x $1 = $35/25MB)

"Designed for use with PDAs, but available for all data devices"

that offer is still on, and you can take it up on Flexi, then switch to MBB50 as they are the same tier (no penalties).

If anyone in contract wants to be on that plan, just call your Telecom dealer / rep / acc manager.

They (Telecom) may even retrospectively add that plan to the deal.

Deal has been extended to end of August

--
[Who what why when how?>???]
1 months free access
free data card on 36 month flexi or 24 month 100,200,500MB
free Dlink 802.11g card
free Telecom wifi hotspot usage till end of year.

yeah - there is one promo that has been extnded month on month for over a year now!!

it just means they can pull it anytime they like and feel good about only having to give one months notice.

they should have done that with $10 text uncapped LOL

dont expect telecom will be beaten on price in 3G data given their previous public statements that they just wont be beaten in the mobile market....

I would think Vodas 3G pricing will be sharp, and Telecom will fairly instantly match or better it, making the only considerations coverage and speed.

We know who wins half of that argument already (speed), and coverage is pretty well sorted too...

HTC has some great gear. They should be careful, or they might end up a household name before too long :-)

Sorry, I have zero idea (beyond what I read in the net-news) about Vodas intended 3G coverage. When I said "coverage is pretty well sorted too" I meant that Telecom have announced their coverage, and it was pretty good news.

Telecom were very tight lipped about their coverage plans, and the rumours were quite vague, and only surfaced a week or two before the official announcements. (From what I saw)

I can only assume Vodafone is being even more secretive, as they are probably planning a huge impact with their launch, and wouldnt want to dilute it with too much leaked info.

Have heard details of one of the new Voda plans for 3G and if it is true, and if Telecom are forced to match it, then you will all be very very happy indeed. It is way beyond anything currently in the market.

But it will show that mobile operators have all but given up on making real money out of mobile data - and it would mean that Skype over EV-DO would be far cheaper than making a local voice call - let alone international. Not sure if Skype will work over UMTS due to latency?

Well you'd say for sure major cities - central and suburban. That would the priority. If you provide awesome coverage in Auckland you can get acess to over 25% of NZ.

Probably similar to Telecom, towns over a certain size and then you've got the main state roads.

Plus if you were smart major holiday resorts.

In-fill will be something that comes later.
