With the proper software... The GTran DotSurfer comes with everything you need to send/receive SMS. Check our review.

Thanks,
Does the use of that software mean sending (and receiving?) texts counts towards data usage or could it be counted as a 'text', ie 500 texts for $10, plus the card (I am still thinking of buying) is a Sierra Broadband card.

SMS are counted separately, like in the Harrier.

I have read on the sierra website that it is possible out of the box but it will depend on the provider. I need to investigate that part with Telecom before going any further.

Will def work. Latest cards shipping with new sw or just download off Sierra site. All cards have 027 number thus can send & receive SMS - charged as SMS.
