First post and all, but im abit miffed about this guy, i work for telecom and had the 7400 for 4 months, and it didnt happen to me and mine was treated like a football...lol...anyway my point is i KNOW FOR A FACT that it will be fixed and if its not all you have to do is POLITELY ask a dealer (myself included) to escalate the problem and this normally results in a new phone, yes this is a $699 phone but these things happen and instead of getting all snotty about it why not just calmy deal with it?

The place that I work at hasn't any issues with the 7400. Admittely approx 99% of our sales aren't phones but even still. Most of our problems were with tx95 and tx115? That aside most things get covered under warranties provided its not 'water damage', user damage or 'wear and tear'.

One of the side panels on my p910 has started to stick out... got to be more careful with it. Particularly when its an imported (brought it back from China myself) handset. (also got the mobile insurance now too) Will probably get it repaired if it gets too bad, otherwise just holding off for at least another 6 months to 1 year before I consider getting new handset.

Going off topic - its nice to see a non-3g topic for a change... even if it has been posted many times before :P

if you tried to get yours fixed and the repair place said to you that they hadn't come across this problem, and refused to fix it under warranty and said send it in but you will be charged, wouldn't you get a bit snotty? I then esculated the issue to the manager who said the same thing to me.
What you suggest is great and all but it doesn't always work.
So I have brought a new phone without the rubber issue, and sent it off.
If I get charged, disputes courts here we come.
It appears that yes some of the phones won't do it but there is a batch that are doing it.
So purchase if you wish, it is a great phone besides this,
But if you are one of the users who this happens to, the phone will looks hideous.
Also, you may or may not have luck with this horrid and inconsistent repair company.

Your risk.

The sanyo 5600 is far better in design.

Actually, If you sent it to MFR then no i cant say it will be definatly fixed..BUT the new repair company Telegistics are alot better than MFR and currently handle all of our sanyo handsets and i know for a FACT that they will happily fix this for you :)

thank you, yes I hope they are better, MFR were/are pretty shocking.
My point though still remains, these phones are obviously not up to scratch if this is happening.
Who wants the hassle of taking their phone to the shop and going without it for a week or so, and going back again? Most busy people wouldn't. Also, just because it is fixed doesn't mean it won't happen again.
I have a new model now.
Therefore I recommend people do not buy this model.

Im pretty sure this is only a single batch of phones as i have talked to alot of other customers regarding their sanyo 7400's and i get nothing but positive feedback, dont slag off the model just because a batch of them had low grade glue on them, look at the Nokia 6255, it had teething problems and its still a great phone.

I see your point but whether it is worth the risk or not is up to the buyer.
It is important that people are aware of these faults if they are happening to a lot of them.
I sure would appreciate the warning, and i have a right to slag the model off if it has fallen apart on me.

Well, ive allready upgraded to the 5600 so i cant complain at all but you should be able to get it sent to telegistics and have no more problems with it.
