Hiya
Im a rookie when it comes to these things, but can anyone tell me if im able to switch networks in Oz?

I currently have 2 telecom handsets, one on prepaid and the other im in the process of finishing up my contract with Telecom. I have a Sanyo 8100 and a Nokia 3105.

Im planning to move to Syney at years end and i was just wondering if:
a: im able to switch to one of the networks over there.
b: Could i i just the telecom prepaid network to txt people in nz

which could i do of the above? any suggestions?

It is most likely that Telstra will not connect an import mobile phone - same as Telecom policies.

thanks. Would it be silly to ask if i could use my pre paid over in oz. i hear that using any 027 will work in oz? Only thing i could i could think of is problems with topping up unless i get top cards sent to oz???? just ciurious

You can take your phone over there and yes it will work but only on roaming it wouldn't be permanent, in the long run it would be more economical to buy a new phone because you won't get any telecom txting deals because your overseas.

for a tnz prepaid to roam in oz, you need to set it up to charge back to an account in new zealand, and you wont be paying prepaid prices for calls, and you wont be getting your $10 txt deal.

Best bet is to sell your phones on trademe before they start to depreciate (more).

$10 TXT used to work in Australia as it did in NZ (Still to 021/025/027/029 only) until a few days ago whe the loophole was closed along with the data loophole.
