Hi there all

man what a numpty naive question for you all - I am the (not so) proud new owner of a Samsung 8300 as my old Sanyo 8400 was loosing the plot - i think the connections in the flip part were wearing out...

Anyway - decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to the 8300 ( i think i was blinded by the w**k value of the camera to be honest) - and what a mistake to make!

The operating system is horrible, the manual is USELESS and i just DON'T LOVE IT AT ALL!

Of course when you change from one brand to another there's always going to be a learning curve but i'm now at day 17 and i AM NOT FEELING THE LOVE!

Do i have any avenues with Telecom in terms of changing this to another phone??

Btw, i am paying this 8300 off over a 12 month term - if that makes a difference....

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yell

there was this one time when i went to the telecom store and ticked up 2 mobile phones on xt i brought them home and mum desided that she didn't want one of them the store manager was very rude about it when i went back to the shop to return it. so i called telecom they said i can change my mind with in 7 days of getting the product we was on a 24 month contract. so telecom said we will cancel the contract but you have to send the phone back. they sent us out a courier bag we put the phone and the sim card in there and sent it back to telecom once it got to telecom. we called them up and then made sure it was canceled. so we got off it lucky so i believe in the contract it says you have 7 days if you are unhappy with the product to return it give that a try.

A few things here; There is no legal requirement for a 7 day right of return from a shop in a face to face situation. Telecom only offer a 7 Day Right of Return for purchases via it's call centers and Online channels (and in some promotional instances for in store purchases).

It is up to the good will of the individual Dealer to weather they accept a return for a reason such as you have provided.

Call centers, while they may have accepted Jadefuzy's return are only meant to accept call center purchases that meet certain criteria. Anything purchased at a Telecom Store or Dealer should be referred back to the individual store.

Maybe Bazzer. But the point is, the person would probably be better off asking the store they bought it from rather than GZ, as the store makes this kind of decision and - all things considered - the worst they can do is say "no".

After nearly 3 weeks, the store will most probably say no regardless.

I reckon you should have some comeback as the shop demo phones are dummys and they dont tell you the user interface is crap - untill you are tricked into buying it because the holographic paper in the fake screen looks good. If they show you a product, and you like it because of what you see then you buy it. But if they deliberatly dont show you the auctual product then you should be able to return it

...in my opinion

I reckon this needs testing by the fair trading act as alot of people i know have bought a phone based on a dummy and find the interface is auctually crap. Both my flatmates are in this situation but too stupid to test how their complaint would stand up - and its been more than a reasonable 7 days since they bought them.

Telecom shops do have a selection of live phones on Display, and I believe this is one of them in most stores. Even so there is nothing to stop anyone asking to see a specific phone.

Yes except if you happen to be in a town without a telecom store, but are shopping at a small-town retailer who wont break the 'seal that must not be broken' because they are under the impression that if you break the seal it cannot be returned and no other customer would want to buy it if its been opened. Other customers probably wouldnt mind buying an opened package if the seal wasnt there.
