Greetings

Bought a USB cable from Telecom Northlands for $199 with APT Software, the
software is really for the Sanyo 8100, but I was assured that it worked with the 7400.
First of all they sold me a product, which a customer had returned, so had to get
on to the manufacturer to get the right activiation code. Then I find that the software
does not recognize the phone.

I am returning the cable to Telecom tomorrow.

Has anyone had similar experience and does anyone know of a product, i.e. a USB cable and software for the Sanyo 7400 that really works ?

Much obliged for any help with this.

Hi there - welcome to Geekzone.

Contact "jpwise" on this forum via pm and ask him, he will get you all sorted.

Failing that, go and visit APTs website and find their contact details (they make the cables).

That's interesting - they are usually quite good, and help a lot in these forums. Perhaps jpwise will look on this thread later?

Ahh.. Another forum to lurk on. Had only been watching the CDMA forum to date.

I've send EdBaker a couple of PM's, and also found out what the guts of his problem is.

Essentially the store he purchased it from sold him a package that had been returned by another customer. In this case, the other customer had already registered the product (Single user, non transferrable license), hence the license was already activated. Those problems were resolved ~5th Sept. Looking at the activation code, his version of Datapilot is the v1.0.1 version.

Initial Sanyo 7400 support was added at v1.1.0, so he'll need to download the updated version from the website (www.datapilot.co.nz). The 'newer' version which adds 7400 Calander and the 5600+8200 support is still in QC, although *fingers crossed* shouldn't be too far away now. Provided we don't find any more major bugs that is.

---

So not exactly a normal user experience, but once he gets the update he should be fine.

No problem. Things usually go pretty smoothly and we never hear from them, but there's always one every now and again with 'extenuating circumstances'.

The 'newer version' will also include a new driver install system based on Microsoft's DPINST system for the Win2k/XP install. There are also a few other plans in the works for our drivers in general, but they're still in developement. (mostly streamlining and making even simpler if we can).

Hi saeed. If the cable was only $26 from Trademe its likely to be just another 3rd party cable. You could try contacting the person who sold it to you. Or other people here might post some links to driver for you.

If you're wanting to get the photo's out, then you're going to need the software to do so.
If you have a look at the thread: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=39&TopicId=4952
it tells you what we include with our software. The Cd-Only version is due to become available for sale on Monday (historically it has only been available when sold with our own data cable).

The Recommended Retail is $69+GST. We'll also be providing basic driver support by phone. However the way we've done the installer under Win2k & XP it should fix up any driver problems when you install it (ie: cable installed as 'unknown device').
