As mentioned the other day, the updated version of Susteen Datapilot for New Zealand Sanyo phones has been released.

Below is the basic content of the mailer that's currently being sent out.
---

Subject: Susteen DataPilot PC Sync Software Version 1.2.3 released

Support for the Sanyo 5600 and 8200 has been added to Susteen DataPilot PC
Sync Software v1.2.3 (New Zealand Only Release)

DataPilot now supports the New Zealand Sanyo 4920, 5600, 7400, 8100, 8200
mobile phones.

Features:
- Added support for the Sanyo 5600 and 8200 (Phonebook, Calender, Ringtone,
Image upload & download)
- Calender feature now supports the Sanyo 7400
- Image download now supports downloading movies and still images from the
Sanyo 5600 and 7400.
- Improved Image download speed

Note: This version does not include support for the Sanyo 2300 - this is
being evaluated, and an announcement will be made shortly.

All Sanyo USB Data Cable kits shipping from APT from the 26th September
will include Version 1.2.3 on CDROM.

The APT USB Data Cable is compatible with the Sanyo 4920, 5600, 7400, 8100

PS: For anyone that was curious. The CD will contain:

1) Installation Guide(s).
2) Drivers for Win98, ME, 2K, XP
3) USB Mass Storage Driver for Windows 98-ME (ie: Sanyo 5600 accessing miniSD module)
4) Susteen DataPilot for NZ v1.2.3
5) Susteen DataPilot for NZ - User Guide.

The USB Mass Storage driver is required when you set the phone to 'USB Mass Storage' mode under Win98. Win2k-XP include a built in driver and don't require anything extra.

do you know if telecom has any plans to include similar software in their 5600 store stock? seems to be something that is seriously lacking.

Some of the stores have already started purchasing it in for customers, and we're expecting that number to increase as people become aware it's available and demand goes up.

There are also plans for the stores to have a 10pack price which will have a cheaper unit price (dealer buy only). The RRP will still be the same, but it should encourage stores to buy extra units and keep some on hand.

That's the plan anyway.

Its a third party item. Telecom has got products that include this capability (Nokia), but for those who wish to go with Sanyo, the option is there to buy it as an extra.

Very few companies will ship all the extras (let alone third party ones) with their products these days - why increase the price for the 70 - 90% of people who wont use those features?

You get a cheaper handset, and the option the buy what you need, rather than being forced into it.

If you're an existing user (<6 months) you can download the update. Otherwise yes, you need to buy the CD.
