Got an email alert from Telecom 2 weeks ago to say my plan usage was used up.
I logged on to telecom and found that i was changed from go large to explorer.

I found this site and have found that telecom was changing the plans on 30 Oct and you would get a credit if you changed by then.

I phoned telecom and they said that a letter had been sent out to everyone to explain the changes.
I have had no letter or email from them. They have all my details and could not even tell me.

I am now stuck with paying an extra $10 per month, for slower d/l but have faster u/l.
Youtube ok
TVNZ and torrents are waste of time

The lady at telecom told me i would have got a credit for 3 months if i changed by Oct 30.
I asked her if if i still get the credit, but she said "No, you did not tell us you wanted to change".
I replied with that they did not inform me of the changes and i feel ripped off.

Also i have now found out from this website that my exchange box on the side of the road that i live about 300m from is to be up dated in 2020.

I now have this off my chest.
Cheers.

Wonder what happened to the letter, maybe you have a dodgy postman or you accidentally threw it out?

I'm surprised you would have missed it but it happens I guess.

It was fairly well publicised in the community with threads on geekzone/gpforums/pressf1 and articles in stuff and nz herald articles.. in addition to the letter.

As for the Cabinet are you sure it says 2020 as the ADSL 2+ migration has a 4 year upgrade timeframe, between 2007 - 2011.

all the cabinets will be upgraded by Jan 2012, most have been done already.

2020 is totally wrong. where did you see that?

Hi my connection just got real slow and an email saying that I have exceeded my monthly usage. I had no idea why this was and the next day the when the usual telecom statement arrived in the post it showed the billing for 'go large' then for 'explorer'. I didn't here of any such change and now I have a slow connection. They never gave me a warning.

Go large was the only reason I was staying with telecom and unless they can switch it back for me (which I doubt) I will be switching both my internet and phone to another provider. How does telecom seriously think this is good for business, I thought they were trying to clear up they're reputation for the worst telecommunications company from a few years ago. Argghhhhhhh!

How do you figure talking to the call centre is a waste of time?? If you want to escalate to "head office" as you say you will have to talk to the call centre.... Well thats if you want a timely result as the only other way is to write a letter (actual letter, snail mail) to Telecom's customer resolution group.

I'm guessing that's either a typo, or you are sufficiently close to the exchange to not need a cabinet upgrade at all and thus will get ADSL2+ when the exchange gets upgraded.

Either that or you are classed as too rural to be upgraded within the time. (My NZ geography is very poor)
