Hi All,

From around 1am I have been unable to access most (all) internationally based sites. I cannot connect to live messenger / IRC, no emails, nothing.

I have reset modems and PCs with not change.

tracert - google.co.nz

Just called telecom, and they have an automated message saying that

"some of our Telecom Broadband customers are unable to access international websites, and they are working on the problem"

from what I got, there is no eta for it being fixed either.

Fine here at home.. probaably a regional problem or a fault with a specific interface or ip range, something like that.

That's life, I suggest going to the pub playing some pool and having a drink.

What region are you from? I am in Napier/Hawke's Bay and have also experienced international issues today. A friend down the road from me says that he was not affected. I notice that the issue has been resolved for me now.

Auckland. Interesting that not everyone was affected.

Probably an internal routing issue.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Any statement from Telecom? I couldn't find anything regarding yesterday's outage other than here and from the Aardvark (http://aardvark.co.nz/daily/2009/1123.shtml).

I am in Taranaki and I did not have any international access (as well as any NZ websites that have International links such as adbureau and analytics.... argh!) for most of yesterday. Obviously this problem was widespread given the message left on the Telecom call centre.

Problem seems to be in the USA. Working with local provider to resolve. Worst affected are those using DNS servers based in USA.
