Hi there

I got my freebie T Stick at the weekend and was quite happy as we were embarking on a road trip and this meant my young fella could have a few MB of data to play with. We are currently in Wairoa, Northern Hawkes Bay.

I got some fatal exception messages when I installed the modem but by exiting I was still able to get online. Even in Wairoa the connection felt snappy.

I was happily surfing this morning when I lost connection. My XT E71 stayed online so I saw that there was a network issue. No problem, I plugged in the old T STick.

Tonight I discover that the issue is fixed ... except for me. I connect momentarily and then tada, I am offline.

I did put the new sim in my phone to test it and that worked fine – I got a data connection. I have put my original sim into the XT T Stick and that works flawlessly – without the fatal exception.

Ideas? The call centre has gone to bed :(

Thanks BarTender, but unfortunately it hasn't. I rang the Call Centre and was told that the problem is that the sim is out of credit. They can't give me any information that details how much data was used at each time.

I guess that I'll just have to recharge and keep a close eye on our usage. To be honest I have been using an old style T Stick for more than a year and never ever gone over my allowance. This is extremely bizarre, but with out any evidence I can't argue the point that I wouldn't have gone through 500MB in less than two days (most of which I have spent driving or with family).

Have you tried looking at the "Internet Connection Records" provided by the Telecom Connection Manager software?

They will show the Date/Time/Duration of each session and how much data was Downloaded/Uploaded. It's very useful information; I keep a close eye on my records.

You may find that the reports there are not quite as accurate as they could be, I reccommend checking out http://yt.telecom.co.nz/mobile (only on a T-stick), clicking get new password, check your txt/sms's, enter that into the page, then scroll down to change password, once logged in you can see your balance, and can then check it from any computer at http://www.telecom.co.nz/mbbmeter

Are you using a Mac with Snow Leopard? There is a problem where the device/driver/something that causes me to leak several KB's a second as chatter between SL and Telecom's DNS servers. This is distinct from the 64-Bit kernel problem.

Works like a champ in Leopard (10.5) and Ubuntu...

The tstick has been in an xp netbook and briefly in a E71 handset.

I looked at the connection manager but there is only a session yesterday morning - no data.

I also logged into the pdaportal site and that's got contradictory data. I've taken a screen shot which I will post later, along with a comparison shot.
