I'm not sure what the problem here as my internet connection quite often get disconnected.Sometime I have to restart the modem to get it connected again. It is very annoying me when I surfing the web  and also the speed is vary after it re-connected again(sometime it as slow as dial up when it get reconnect after it got disconnected.)

I am on big time,I am happy with this plan except  the problem which make the connection off and on again and again.

Anyone have any idea what the problem is?Thanks

Hi, can you tell us what the DSL line stats reported by the modem are, and also tell us about what other phones faxs, sky boxs etc are connected across the line and are they filtered, in general describe you wiring.

Also when you get disconnected do you loose DSL or just PPP.

Cheers
Cyril

What you describe is not normal, most routers/modems should run for weeks if not months without rebooting. Once again I repeat my first post in this thread.

Belkin make quite a larte number of modems, if you want more specific assistance a model number would help.

The technician came to check the modem and the line..ect..without finding any problem. Then he contacted the help desk and to change the profile or something as I heard he spoken on the phone. The problem now solved.I guess this problem may be cause by the telecom traffic management as it become slower and faster after each disconnection.

Well there are a few different profiles (latency dependent, line noise, jitter etc) depends how far your premise line to the exchange.......if it is quite far, they will change the profile to have a stable connection and if you are very near to xchange lets say about 100-500 meters they will change to high speed profile (low latency) but the risk is you might get disconnect often due to line noise, jitter etc......

So i believe what the technician did was to rang up the special helpdesk to change your connection profile to have a stable line rather than a high speed one ---- but then it is not much differ....probably 1-3 mb/s connection....

It is not caused by the traffic management.....traffic management only applies between 2pm till 11pm (somewhere around there - high peak traffic)

If you are meaning Big Time traffic management it applies 24/7.
