I am getting random slowness on international websites... local are fine and speedy..

My brother-in-law is also have same issues.. we are both on xtra

Anyone else have same problems?

Some more information would be good. For example what plan you are, when it started happening, any new software installed just before this started happening, any new phones in your house, have you changed routers, etc...

I would suggest you to change your DNS servers to google's or any other opendns.

I'm on Big Time. Speed is fine, everything works perfect except some of the websites (international and local or not loaded or loaded very slowly), so I changed DNS and everything back to normal :)

Yes it looks like DNS problems with Telecom. Reports in the gaming forum are similar: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=64&topicid=57233

Changing DNS servers (to non Telecom ones) as per the previous post appear to resolve the issues.

No, don't do this... DNS servers are used to direct telecom customers to the local youtube cache... and it may be extended to other local caches of stuff in the future.

If you DO change it because of a transient problem, please remember to change it back.

In normal operation, the 3rd party servers (like Google et al) are almost always slower than the ISP DNS servers. In a place like New Zealand, they can be several TIMES slower.

Or run your own dns server - I think thats why I see so few issues that others do. The one in the router that just fowards to the isp assigned dns always flakes out.
