We are moving to Rolleston in april and we would love to stay with telestra with our boardband but they cant tell us if we can get boardband or not and siad they will get someone to ring us back but they never do.So we rang telecom and they siad we can get boardband so we thought we might go with them instead. My question is whats Telecom ADSL like in rolleston, any problems with disconnections? and whats the speeds like.

cheers

Have telecom confirmed spare adsl ports are now available? The last time I checked there was a waiting list.

Only adsl1 speeds for now, no adsl2 till Oct 2011 -  Jan 2012

The area is fibre fed so speed is limited by your ISP/plan

If you're in a port-waiter area (which much of Rollestion is still) you won't be able to get ADSL with any provider. Likewise if not you'll be able to get it with any ISP.

Port-waiting is a frustrating thing for all parties involved. Your best bet is honestly to just transfer your TelstraClear services and what ever happens its out of your hands.

Telecom may be referring to mobile broadband, which many people in Rolleston are forced to use. Sadly the performance and price is a farcry from any landline based offering :(

The people we brought the house off already have boardband connected with telecom and we rang telecom and they said we are able to get boardband out there straight away at that address

My recommendation would be to contact New & Move in Telecom and request a feasibility check on the address that you plan on moving to. Although the checks may come back as a positive result they will never guarantee broadband untill it is connected... Well they shouldnt be...

I brought a house in Rolleston in Oct 09. The only way I was able to get Broadband was to take over the old owners account with Telecom (inc phone number). Telecom told me if the old owner disconnected, the port would go to next in line on the wait list and NOT me. So be CAREFUL what you do. Telecom has been just fine with speed & reliablity for me.

It turns out that the current people at the address actually have Telestra Clear Boardband,so we asked if we could take over there boardband instead of them disconnecting it and they told us WE CANT take over there boardband and we will have to try and reconnect it when we moved in,which is not guranteed because  there may be other people waiting in line.So we rang telecom and they siad we can get boardband installed with them within 2 days of moving in.

Lillow can you PM me your new address, I will sort a feasibility check for you. The CSR's in the call center should not be promising you anything at this stage.... Its one of there business rules all of the reps should be following.
