So I'm trying to get this phone to last a bit longer in order to wait for a decent Android phone or the like to come to XT before I make the jump.

I've been using text alerts for Facebook and Twitter for ages now and I would get text messages fine all sweet for most of the month and with the 2000 text plan I've been able to text in status updates fine the whole time and it would just take them out of my plan.

Recently I've noticed that I don't get text alerts back when my balance get down below 20c but I'm still able to text in status updates, what's up with that pretty much makes the system a waste of time :/

Why only single direction charging? Gah!

no idea, but the simple solution is to not let your balance get below 20c.

That doesn't stop the really stupid idea of charging me for recieving a text of which I seemingly can reply to at no charge.

I don't think they ever charged to receive status updates. Are you sure is not the same problem of Facebook SMS not being delivered to Vodafone?

Could be, and if so is there a solution?

But it might not be as it seemingly does the same with Twitter and I think Google Calendar etc

Sending messages to Twitter or Facebook on the CDMA network (ie 8987 or 3223) does not use any included TXT messages, it's the usual 20c per SMS to send a message. Receiving the message is free.

I'd take a stab and say the billing system prevents you receiving any premium rate SMS messages which these updates are, even if they are zero rated.

Not my job to explain it - if you're getting these for free then good on you. They are not supposed to be free, as Telecom's website will tell you. The fact you have pointed out an obvious billing issue will probably see Telecom fixing it now!

I was asking why it would be free to send and not to recieve. If you think about it, sending for free does imply recieving for free when traditionally you only pay to send (disregarding international numbers)
