I'm pretty sure from my basic research, but would like confirmation if possible please?

I didn't bother to check it out before as I saw e71s at telecom shops and just assumed my old vodafone e71 would work, but doesn't seem to find the xt network.

It won't work. You need a phone that does 850MHz and the Vodafone model doesn't do it.
