My wife currently has a phone on XT which we purchased when XT launched on the one rate 100 plan, plus $6 text add on which comes in at $56 per month.

The new talk and text plan would be ideal for her - any ideas on the costs to change plans - we are about 12 months through the 24 month contract.

have you tried phoning telecom? I imagine they would be able to tell you.

Thanks for your valuable insight, obviously you've never dealt with the telecom call centre - often there are multiple ways to achieve the desired result however call centres have a very narrow scope so was thinking that there might be a telecom employee who could provide some info.

I would definately contact Telecom to discuss further. Obviously they're in the best position to address your contract and what you can or can't do. I have heard however, that on some occasions you can change plans if you remain within your contact tier, but I can't be certain.

Hey Aaron,

There is no problem for you to change plans. If you PM me your number I can give you specific details, however the business rules for this kind of change are as follows:

If you are within the first 12 months of your 24 month contract there is a $100 charge per plan 'tier,' there is only 1 tier in question here :)

If you are into the second 12 months of your 24 month contract there is no charge to change down to the Talk & Text 300 plan from the One Rate 100 plan that you are on.

Hope this helps you out!
