I have just got a sierra 308 HSPA+ card I have swapped the sim into it and I am finding that it appears to be the same speed as the sierra 885.

Does anyone know if there is a coverage map somewhere for HSPA+ or if Rotorua has coverage yet?

Yeah I saw that article too and I wondered what complete meant eg. they are only doing a certian amount of sites/cities or that all XT towers have been upgraded.

It would be interesting to know.

Have done some more testing and at times there seems to be a small speed increase...... maybe

On the 885 I can get a file down from microsoft at around 400kb/s on the 308 it's peaked at 530kb/s

Totally resepctable speed - yes, but is it worth buying an HSPA+ device? I think not.

If you're getting true HSPA+ then you should be getting downloads ~1.2MB/s or so.. which is what I was getting when I downloaded MS Patches.
HSUPA CAT8 7.2MB's you should get around the ~500KB or so, perhaps peaking to 550KB/s or 600KB/s.

I would ring up Telecom and ask them.

Thanks for that, I am in Auckland tomorrow so I will see if it's any better there and then call telecom

That looks like HSPA+ to me.

nitrotech: Rotorua is about half of that

HSPA+ Rotorua

That looks like regular HSUPA 7.2MB CAT8.

Sounds like like Rotovegas hasn't been HSPA+'ed yet.

This is what I was getting in Wellington when I tested a Aircard 503 Express card.
