So back when we joined telecom We were set for adsl2+ we got the modem etc i try setting it up no avail, it wouldn't finish connecting to the telecom servers fast forward (blood sweat and tears),

turns out our house wasnt gonna work with adsl2+ (on account of "sine wave" connection failure (made up name makes sense if you know what it is))

we got the technician to downgrade us to ADSL1 All good right? well now with bigtime, some time, ending we have the predicament of being changed either to a new plan or a new isp and i was wondering weather it would pay to get a wire tech in to fix it once and for all.. because as soon as we get changed its gonna start happening again i guarantee it.
Last time one came its back in early09 he said nothing was wrong but it still did the "sine wave" thing so either it was on a upwards wave when he was in or he was trying to save on a whole house rewiring...

the info would be on our account, the calls and transcripts and what not so is it worth trying to get it done with or without telecoms help (it would be 200 if they or a new isp did it any way right?)

Hi, have to agree with the Mantis, your post is non readable, but hey it could be me I have only being using English for just on 50yrs.

I guess you are saying your ADSL2+ does not work so you had it pulled back to ADSL1, and the tech that turned up indicated that a overhaul of the house phone wiring was needed to sort it out so you could get ADSL2+, a cost at the time you did not want to pay.

I also assume that now "Bigtime" has finished and you have to move on to a new plan you have decided that maybe that wiring upgrade is worth the hassle and cost.

I guess first its useful to establish what speed you are getting on ADSL1 (ie what are you modem line stats). Also have you checked the following site to see if what your potential of ADSL2+ is.

www.telecomwholesale.co.nz/maps

Based on the results of that analysis we might be able to offer more advise.

Cheers

Hi, ok so that confirms that the download sync speed indicated by the modem is infact 7Mb/s not 7kb/s.

So as I see it there is nothing wrong with your connection, the above information indicates that you are just on 2km of cable from the DSLAM and connecting with a good noise margin, and yes it also states that its connected in ADSL1 mode (ie G922.1), which you state has been locked down at Telecoms end.

As to why you modem would not lock at ADSL2 is odd to me, the above information indicates that it should quite eaisly. Is it possible that since you last tried you have been moved to a cabinet, the above telecomwholesale map link would indicate if you were on a cabinet or not.

Purhaps its your modem, what mode is it, does it have the lattest firmware.

chances are the modem wouldn't have the latest firmware though during the process we did try replacing the modem, doesn't an update require some disk?

and mode which section would that be under.. even better should i try config another modem?
