Hi just moved my 3gs to xt after my contract ended with vodafone. Only moved because there is no vodafone coverage at my new house but strong xt coverage. All seems to be good, good speeds and good coverage, the data packs are pathetic however xt you need to sort that out if you want more I phone customers, I could only sign up for a 250 meg, the 500 isn't available on account and the next size is 2 gigs at a astronomical price.

Anyhow I digress, I know about the issues with voicemail not functiong via the voicemail button on xt because of the sim card. However today I had my first missed call and now there is a great big red dot above my phone icon which will not go away. The dot is far chunkier than the one with vodafone and it doesn't say how many calls I have missed.

How do I cancel the red dot for missed calls on Xt?

Cheers C

the red dot indicates voice mail, clear your voice mail (dial 083210) and after the message is cleared the dot goes away

Ha ha bugger me you are right thank you, I had pressed 5 to delete as opposed to 3 so the message was still there. Thank you.

Now can you do anything about the rubbish data plans?

you can get the 500 meg for $30 data plan on XT prepay
You pay 10 cents a meg up to 300 meg then the rest of the 200 meg is free.
If you use less than 300 meg all you pay is what you use @10 cents a meg for what you use off your prepay balance.
Great option, I use about 100 meg of data a month on my IPhone for around $10 a month.

Its the same plan thats on the Data Sticks. You have to ring them to get it though as its not online I don't think..

are you 100% sure?
I always thought it was. the 500MB for $30 plan is certianly available via postpaid with a tstick - and there is no difference AFAIK between data plans on sticks vs data plans available on phones.

Yes, I'm positive as I have it on my XT prepay mobile now and have had it since last xmas.
You have to ring them to get it like I said and get them to attach it to your prepay number.

what's not?

the $30 for 500MB being available on postpaid with a stick? - I am 100% sure that it is
or
stick plans being available on a phone? - I'm not 100% sure if that is the case,  it is for prepaid data.

You can add it (on prepaid) using the automated phone system as well, it's just under a different sub-menu. From memory it's under mobile broadband instead of data packs. Or something like that.

According to the rep when I signed up for my account 500 meg is available on pre pay but not on post paid which strikes me as a bit insane. He called someone whilst I was in the store to confirm, of course I can get additional data which accumulates after the 250 us used but it all seems a bit convoluted.

It appears that the 500 MB option is now available on postpaid (it wasn't last month) but unlike the prepaid option you need to pay the full $30 up front rather than 10c/MB. I've switched to prepaid so that I can get the better pricing.

I have a data stick on the 500 MB prepay plan.  Very good value for money - has cost me $30 for 6 months use.  But I really have no idea how the pricing works - can someone please explain?

Website says it all.. You pay 10c per MB for data up to 300MB and then get the next 200MB free.

If you use under 300MB in a month you just pay the 10c per MB for whatever you used.

Thanks - that makes sense.  When I bought the data stick, it said that the first 500 MB was included, but I had to top up after I'd used 300.  But it took me more than a month to use 300 MB, so I didn't get the free 200 MB.  It is an excellent plan for casual use, and the performance is usually very good.

I also pay Vodafone $10 per month for 100 MB so that I can use their 3G network in the places where there is no XT coverage.
