It always gets me excited when New Zealand gains new internet Technology and even more so when the work happens.
As it happens Right around my corner there are some dudes from transfeild(is that right?), Hamilton city counsel and Chorus if I remember correctly.
They have light blue/green pipes (and i think even orange smaller ones) and are placing metal plates over their work.
the same is happening down Hillcrest road next to the University/Saint Johns College.
Is this ADSL2+ (or better) happening before me? or just a wire upgrade?

Hi, Hamilton East Exchange is due to have a whole bunch of cabinets (12 infact) commissioned between September and December, so its reasonable that they are getting the fibre to them at this stage. Also one cabinet (HNE/A near Carrington/Vesty Ave) is commissioned about now.

Fielding has 9 cabinets to go in but not meant to be ready till Sept2011, but again the roll out of fibre to them often happens wayy ahead.

Also Chorus are well ahead of their published schedules for cabinet rollouts.

DUUUDE thats why better than Tcoms last roll out goal if any one remembers tht >.<

They have pretty much gotten the setup there just needs a Cabinet ontop in half of the spots already

Ahead of schedule sounds great. Any estimation on how ahead they are? Interested in cabinets for over by hillcrest on morrinsville rd. also interested in the cabinet for maeroa rd (te rapa exch?)

There has been Chorus vans everywhere in Gore for the last couple of weeks. One day I counted 8 different vans in the space of about 5 minutes. They have had tents set up over the roadside exchanges, must be doing the cabinet thing?

"Ahead of schedule" sounds good; I'm due for an upgrade in March but the earlier, the better!
