Hi people, Can anyone help me? My Sanyo 5600 mobile will not connect/interact with my PC. During mass storage transfer using USB cable, the screen on my mobile says "Transferring etc Do not remove cable" BUT that's it. It stays like that for the longest time and doesnt do anything else. My PC screen does not show any connection aswell. I have windows XP Pro. Can anyone help me?

If I remember correctly. if you've set it to usb storage it's going to just be another removeable drive, which XP will automatically install. The 'do not remove cable' bit stays until you uninstall/eject the device (icon in tasktray by clock).

If you're using it for Sync with Datapilot etc, you'll need to set the phone to Standby mode instead when you plug the cable in.

Hi JPWise, all i am trying to do is connect to the PC so I can upload/download etc. There is no other icon in my tasktray as you suggest. My PC does make the "connection sound" which shows the device is connected to the PC but nothing happens on the PC. What should happen on the PC? When I connect my Sanyo 5600 it shows on my mobile screen that mass storage is transferring and do not remove the cable but thats it nothing else occurs and this screen stays like that forever until I unplug the USB cable. Is there anything else that I need to install on the PC? The sanyo mass storage device is located in my PC already and it says the driver is enabled and working correctly. Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks

What he said. : )

When you're using it as a mass storage device, WinXP has built in USB mass storage drivers (ie: for thumbdisks etc), so it doesn't prompt you for drivers.

Once it's installed when you plug it in it just appears as another drive letter in My Computer or Windows Explorer. You mentioned "The sanyo mass storage device is located in my PC already and it says the driver is enabled and working correctly." - where did you check this? I'm assuming device manager. If that's the case then yes, just go look if you have any new drive letters.

Also what type of uploading/downloading are you referring to?

Hi again, when the phone is plugged in using USB cable and when I click under my Computer no new drives appear but when I open Device Manager, under drives, it shows Maxtor and Sanyo Mass storage device. Whe I open its properties it says drive E:
I assume one is able to upload the photos/videos (media) I have taken with the camera on the phone and upload to the PC and download ringtones and MP3s from the PC to the phone. If thats possible, thats what Im trying to do BUT as I said my computer doesnt seem to recognise anything from the phone. When plugged in is the PC suppose to open anything like a folder or something then give instructions on what to do next, because its not doing that. Any further suggestions?
Thanks so much already for your help and time so far guys, I relly appreciate it.
Regards

The USB Mass storage only allows access to the MiniSD card in the phone. If you've got no card (/faulty card) that would explain why you're not seeing a drive letter.

As for the photo/video downloading (download to pc, upload to phone), if the images/video are in the camera's memory you'll need Datapilot to get them out. www.datapilot.co.nz

If they're in the miniSD card (assuming you have one), you might be able to access them using the usb mass storage interface.
