You can get the IMEI from this phone and enter it here to see if it's compatible: http://telecom.co.nz/phonecheck

Where is this phone from? If it's ex-Vodafone then NO it won't work.

It is a UK phone. The IMEI check said not compatible.
My mate has some of these things (www.universal-sim.com) would that make it work on XT?

If the phone doesn't operate on the correct frequency, no fancy SIM cards will make it work.

A UK model is very unlikely to work on Telecom XT because it's not in the right frequency. No SIM card adapter will make it work. Ever.

Ok. I like this phone and might get an NZ one if they are capable of working on XT. Can you get ones that aren't only for vodafone over here?

The N95 is an obsolete phone.  You're certainly not going to be able to buy one that works on XT brand new because they have never been sold in NZ. Any 2nd hand devices would be phones that have been imported by people rather than being NZ new.

Ok, I never knew that. Are there any newer phones that are like the n95 that work on XT. Not really wanting anything with touchscreen or qwerty keyboards but at least the same specs as the n95 8GB>

My phone is considered old and obsolete Cry

Back on topic, have you looked on the Telecom website at all their phones? The Nokia 6700 Slide is quite similar to the N95, it's just minus the battery hogging GPS and WiFi.

Have a look here

It's filtered by

3G 850 Mhz (suitable for the XT Network)

No Touch Screen

No Qwerty Keyboard.

The N95 is included in the results but the status is "Discontinued" for the American Version. If you wanted this phone then you'll only get it second hand. As mentioned previously, this phone is obsolete now. Might be best to get a second hand Telecom XT N85 or the 3G 850 version of the N96.
