Six months ago we changed our 9 phones across from Vodafone to the new XT network, as part of the deal 2 Nokia E75's were provided free and we purchased a further one at a cost of around $1000.
We have been fairly happy with the XT network, but the E75's are real rubbish. We largely work with vets and farmers in rural areas, the E75's continually lose the XT signal in areas where other XT phones are operating at good signal strength. If this was a problem with a single phone I would dismiss it as just a bad handset but all three are just as bad.
Recently we decided it was time to upgrade to more reliable phones and we approached Telecom accordingly. We requested that before deciding on a phone we would like to first trial some of their smartphones. We were informed that it was not Telecom policy to trial phones and that we would need to first buy the phones and being a company we would not have right of return unless the phone was proved to be faulty.
I think Telecom's attitude is poor and shows an arrogant disregard for their business customers. I know during our 12 years with Vodafone they were always happy to give us trial phones when we requested them. The only reason we switched to Telecom is the fact that we considered the XT network had the potential to give better coverage in the rural areas. However if we need to shell out $1000 for handsets that don't perform and then have to throw them in the recycling it is beyond a joke.
I would be interested if anyone else out there has had any luck dealing with Telecom on this problem.
