What should one expect for speeds on XT with a HTC Desire?
Just did some speedtests at 2am so no one else will really be using the network. Highest result was 2400 down 1700 up (kilobits).

The desire claims up to 7.2mbps. I know this is theoretical but will I ever see even half of this?

No replies at all?

Surprised no one is willing to share their own speeds and device detail on the XT network.

Also i heard about HSPA+, is a specific HSPA+ handset required to take advantage of this? Or will all HSDPA phones benefit from the increased speeds?

The most i've seen on a 7.2 device is a little over 4mbps.

You'll need a HSPA+ device to get onto the 21mbps upgrade - max speeds i've seen are around 10mbps but from my testing that sort of speed is rare and there are lots of places where you get no speed improvement over HSPA in my opinion

If you're only getting 2400 then that sounds like you're only getting a HSDPA 3.6MB connection rather than a 7.2.

I get about 4mb on HSDPA 7.2MB, and with HSPA+ I get about 10MB/s.

I average about 460KB/s downloads on HSDPA.

Interesting.

I have the A8183 HTC Desire.
GSMArena lists this:
3G HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 2 Mbps

Just did a test again now, now a peak time.
671 down, 1459 up.

Signal only at -101dBm however.

This is strange, why would i only be getting 3.6MB/s as the max?

3232/1598 to Auckland, from Whakatane. Nexus One. I've seen better speeds with my old Sony Ericsson (4500ish), but it might be congestion at this time of day.

scratch that...

But this is very one off. Its consistently below 3mbps otherwise and speedtest isn't known to be totally accurate.
