so my cabinet was  switched to adsl 2+ today,

my download speeds have increased to a nice spot

used to be 3 mb/s  but now they are up to 11 mb/s

sadly my upload has halfed.

used to be .7 ish now its .3 ish

my modem is from telecom the d link 504t , from early 2007, they say on the site that if you got it around then u need an upgrade for adsl2+

so would a new modem really make a difference???

What are the modem stats saying for the SYNC rate?

I would say yes it would. Something broadcom chipset based eg Dynalink, Netcomm or TP-Link.

The D-Link 502, 504 and 604 are known to be not that good

If your sync rate is showing as 11mbps downstream then it indicates the modem is connecting at adsl 2+ speeds. My trusty 302g adsl 1 router connects at 8160 on a connection that currently gives me 15mbps.

I would suggest checking for other possible causes prior to going to the expense of a new router, ie cable and filter.

I agree, check your filters, if there are too many across the line then uplink speed is effected. Do a basic isolation test, ie remove all phones and filters and just leave the modem across the line.

unpluged everything in the house except the modem, no change.

Another question tho, is there such things as a main or master telephone jack?

i have like 5 in the house, and one has an "s" symbol on it. what does this mean?

if there is such thing, would changing to the master point make a change?

Hi, Master and Slave (S) jacks are the old 3Wire system long superseded by a more essential 2wire circuit. 3Wire systems (3rd wire is seperated bell wire) can have advise effects on DSL as the bell wire acts as a beverage antenna.

Whilst it would be ideal to do a full isolation test (connect to direct inbound line at master socket with remaining house wiring disconnected) I suspect you may be looking at a modem issue, its well worth the upgrade to a Broadcom based modem as suggested

I second this issue. I just today got cut over to the new cabinet down our street.

I've gone from 10mb down 1mb up, to 18mb down, 400k up sync speeds.

I have good wiring , with a master splitter installed.

Get a modem with a broadcom chipset, they're easily the best in obtaining solid sync rates with cabinets etc

I've got a netcomm nb6plus4wn, connected to a cabinet

Prior to todays cabnetisation, I was getting 10mb down, 1mb up.

I think I'd rather go back to that!
