I'm looking for a cheap phone I can tether with on Telecom XT.

On the Telecom website it says that the R100 can tether and for $99, seems like a deal. Only problem is I went to the Telecom store and they mentioned the R100 can't do tethering. Who is right?

Any other cheap options? (not so keen on a usb stick as would like the phone as a backup phone as well)

Queen St, Auckland CBD. Maybe the guy wanted me to buy a more expensive phone? He showed me one for $299 instead. Too bad as I wasn't in the market for a $299 phone.

it is important to note that the R100 only does 384kbps up/down so the service received will be slower.

At that speed, it's almost worth just buying a T-Stick.
