My monthly billing ends on the 13th of the month - so why do I get an email at 0.51am on the 14th from Telecom warning me about going over my limit when I've barely had time to get started with using my 40gig allowance for current month.

No wonder Telecom couldn't control excessive Big Time users - they're pretty much useless at doing anything.

I also shocked at how they expect their customers to accept public news media announcements as personal messages in regard to the state of their accounts. ie. Big Time account changes. No decent company has 'too many' customers to not be able to have the courtesy to personally email them before they change their accounts!

Here is the text from the usage meter page detailing how the usage is reported:

The usage meter does not show your usage in real time.  It is updated approximately every hour and, under normal conditions, will accurately reflect usage up to 4 hours earlier.
However, in some circumstances, such as when there are large numbers of users on the internet,
it can sometimes take longer for your usage meter to be updated, particularly at the end of your billing month.

If you want to make sure that your usage gets included for a particular monthly bill, reboot your  broadband modem just before midnight on the last day of your monthly billing cycle.

And we did not rely on public announcements, an email was sent to everyone who had a registered email address and had chosen to receive emails from us and as mentioned many times on here, a letter was also sent that advised the plan change would happen between the 13th of August and the 8th of October

You have a customer relationship with the company, that doesn't mean they will always do everything 100% your way all the time how and when you want.  If you consider they are that "useless at doing anything" then why do you remain a customer?

The useage meter has clear guidelines on how it is to be used and interpreted, and the letters/emails they sent out to account holders was well known and documented countless times on GZ.  It pays to check now and again that companies you have ongoing relationships with have your correct contact details, and in teh case of emails that you have 'opted-in' to receiveing email communications.

I am surprised someone from Telecom actually replied here, seeing how rude this post was straight from the start...

How many times we have to tell people around here that any company presence on Geekzone is not a given right? Being rude only drives away people who can actually help everyone. It would be good if people considered this when posting in the public view.

You seem to be rather angry for something so small, it's almost like telecom has eaten your children. Is there a back story to this or is it a once off incident?
