I just doubled my data cap from 20GB to 40GB today (9/10/10), even after the double data promotion had ended! (31st Sept).

Since, I haven't seen any information about Telecom's Home Solution team in these forums. I just wanted to inform you guys that you can still get double data! This would be ideal for those who are stuck on Adventure Plan (20GB) or want a cheaper 40GB plan.

Right now Vodafone is offering a red zone bundle of a homeline (you still get to keep your number) and 30GB for $90.

Also Slingshot is offering a bundle of a homeline (you still get to keep your number) and 40GB for $96.

These plans are both cheaper than the $107 that you pay at Telecom atm for Homeline and 20GB adventure plan.

I was so inspired by the people sharing stories about doubling double caps. So I decided to do this and this is how I did it!

What you need to do is contact Homeline solutions, or ask the Telecom operator that you want to be transferred to Homeline solutions.

After that, tell them that you can get a better deal from either Slingshot and Vodafone at a lower price. And If they don't offer a better plan for you, inform them that you will terminate your account if they are not able to offer anything (I didn't need to terminate my account from Telecom, because Vodafone told me they will do it for me).

The operator I had was very pleasant and gave me a double data cap from Adventure Plan for 12 months, and I will still able to switch to any future Telecom plans with no fees.

However, if a situation caused me to change my home phone number. i.e. moving houses. Then my double data will cancel and become void.

Good luck on doubling your data caps guys!

Hmmm. I wonder if that would work for a business plan? As it is, many people are getting more data than I am at a much lesser cost, as I've read that quite a few current customers also got the double data plan.

Is there an equivalent to homeline solutions on the business side or would I just talk to them?

Actually Homeline solutions is basically a whole department that deals with issues just like mine. Like they have a section for only general inquiries, I think this department basically just try and stop people from leaving Telecom and provide better deal packages. (If any Telecom workers here would like to tell us more about Homeline Solutions?) So just talk to them and if it doesn't work out, just hang up the phone. lol

The deal before was 6 months of double data. I got it for 12 months. About your business plan, I am pretty sure you can double your plan, because Slingshot has already got all their plans cheaper than Telecoms atm.

I've just been flat out refused double data on our account as it was a promotion for new customers only.

Seems like Telecom is doubling everyone else's data at the moment though.

this is a slap in the face!

after email discussions with telecom they refused to double my data, I pointed out that its a bit unfair to offer new customers double data, selected old customers double data then ignore the rest of us

Figure my only option to get more data is to switch my Phones/ Pro Plan / Cellphones to another provider which will probably work out cheaper

Afew dishonest door to door salesmen and phone sales going on at the moment saying they will double your data for 12 months no contract and then people ring up later on and find they have had their contracts extended for another 12 months.

A couple of work mates have been stung, good thing I was dealing with a door to door salesman and had it written on the contract by him so got out of it. (after complaining afew times). If I had never rung up to confirm I wouldnt know.

I asked telecom about this deal when I was moved out big time. After heated discusstion with telecom rep.I end up opening up new account. I guess you need to talk to the right department..

Telecom called us tonight to give us double data for the next 12 months at no extra cost or contract extension. She said they were giving it to us for our loyalty.

I have a TiVo so my usage always says zero anyway but will be handy for when they fix that issue.

Nice one, our account has had phone line with telecom since the early eighties. Would like to think that that would be considered loyal :)

Yea it did, if you meant by checking my data usage online.
She said it would change at midnight that day, when I made the phone call.

It seems like a lot of you guys are having trouble with the operators. I think it is better to hang up and ring some time later with a new adivsor. Since doubling your data cap is possible.

You guys need to get transferred to Homeline Solutions, because they deal with these issues. Contacting gerneral enquiries will get you no-where.

No wonder people complain about having to wait in helpdesk queues, they're full of people trying repeatedly to get something they arent entitled to by bullying some poor CSR.

Good job guys.

It's pretty simple, the offer is clearly aimed at gaining new customers, you would have been given a similar offer when you joined Telecom as theres pretty much always something going on.

Why should you get to double dip?

But they're not just aiming it at new customers. My sister had someone come to her house yesterday and offer double data for the same price, and as indicated elsewhere in this thread, others have had door-to-door and phone calls for this exact thing as well.

Why should we not get the same?

I didn't intend for this thread to stir up controversy. Firstly, I stated people needed to contact HOMELINE SOLUTIONS. Not general inquiries.

If you had read my first post, you would have realized that the offer has expired and NO ONE is able demand for it, this includes new customers. Also I was not trying to promote this offer. Maybe I should have retitled my post as "extend your data cap"

What I was trying to inform telecom users, is that you do not need to change to slingshot etc. Telecom has great services and has in majority consistent speeds. I hope the people who read this thread would agree as well. But due to their limited plans (compared to other service providers), it is possible to contact Homeline Solutions and ask for a customized plan. Basically they are there to stop you from leaving.

As in your question to why we should be entitled to these benefits? Telecom basically has no benefits at all for their current customers, like off-peak unlimited data. Or even data blocks, if Telecom did have pusrahable data blocks this whole situation could be avoided.

Also I don't agree with your statement "Why should you get to double dip?". We are consumers that are paying for their services. We should at least get what our money is worth.

I should also mention that it is recommended that you do not throw a tantrum, be polite to your customer service representer!
