bill.telecom.co.nz isn't working and wasn't working over the weekend.

If anyone from Telecom is reading this, can you PLEASE send my bill as a pdf attachment when you send the monthly email telling me my monthly balance (like everyone else does!)

Ta!

I think JohnR was surprised with a personal request to have a PDF sent with the next email notification - knowing Telecom has probably more than3 million customers it would be hard for them to send the PDF as requested by one specific customer without knowing more detail - customer number, name, etc.

Unless you are of course suggesting Telecom send the PDF to everyone  when sending out the notifications...

carlh: my bill

As above how would Telecom NZ know who you are from a post on a public forum?

I have tested the site just now and it is working for me.
Is your error a persistent one, or intermittent?

As a person who works for a company that distributes PDFs via email, the practicalities of sending email with Pdfs to a customer base as large as Telecom's firmly put them in the link to hosted bill category.

I've also been unable to view my latest online invoice for the past week. I wonder if there's some of sort of browser/adobe conflict?

My employer has 600,000 customers. We also use the link to hosted invoice... so I'm Telecom also on that one, but still cant view my bill.. I'll try again now and report back.

Edit:

Yeps, still rubbish. I get the following error, the same error for the last week:

Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out.

Using Chrome and the latest Adobe Reader. Will try on Firefox and IE.

Edit: Connection time out on Firefox. IE9 brings up this link which didnt come up on the other browsers:

http://www.telecom.co.nz/binarys/ytloginerror.htm

with the following message.

Just as a thought.. Are these invoices hosted on a server owned by Yahoo? Just wondering!

OK I should have made myself clearer. It wasn't a request for a single bill to be sent to me personally, but a request (born of frustration) for Telecom to consider changing their system for all customers... I've also submitted the same request to them via their website.

As to them being too big to be able to do this, I can only comment that Vodafone, Mercury and my employer (the Ministry of Education) all seem to manage to send bills/payslips as pdfs by email....

[edited, wrong electricity company mentioned]

I don't think so. My comment was on the basis of Telecom answering an individual request from a forum post without any further personal identifying information.

But sending the bills as attached PDF shouldn't be that big a problem.

The only thing I see as a downside (very important) is that many security exploits use PDF files as vectors. If Telecom sends out the invoices, people will "trained" to believe they are safe. Then anyone could just send spam with PDF attachments, claiming to be Telecom invoices and have a high number of people opening those without thinking the risk implications...

I haven't been able to view my bill for weeks now. Hope that means I don't have to pay it since I don't know what it is!

Same diagnosis as others - connection times out on any browser, on Telecom Broadband. Maybe we all have to log individual issues with Telecom?

Just tried here and I can login with two different accounts. One is coming ok, but the other (business one) comes with no invoice PDF, "there has been no recent activity on this account" and mobile broadband usage data is coming empty, and no plan information.

In both cases though I have no access to any PDF anywhere, anymore.

The issue that you are having is during which part of getting the bill?

  • Can you log in and select a billing period but no PDF is shown like freitasm is pointing out?

  • Can you not log in at all?

  • Where in the process is it breaking and do you get any error messages?

I will take the errors that Damager has posted back to the team that runs the front end of that service though.

I may need to have someone contact you carlh since you are the OP, so if you are happy with that can you please email/pm me your contact details?

Regards

Paul
