Does anybody know if it is possible to retieve deleted text messages from my nokia phone on a telecome network?

You want to retrieve them off your physical phone and not from Telecom? Either way chances are slim to nil. What phone model do you have?

Its a 6275i -and either way but the texts would be 6 months old

No - We send the messages to you, if you save them on your device you can keep them but otherwise no.

My understanding is that Telecom keep a copy of all txts for about a week. Source: stuff.co.nz

been saving texts for years.. its simple on most phone these days, and prevents situations like the one from the OP. my brother recently passed away and nice tripping down memory lane of some of the funny conversations captured over the last 5 years or so.
